Course Overview
This hands-on course is for restorative dentist interested in a deeper understanding or a desire to incorporate gingival soft tissue grafting for root coverage or augmentation purposes. Working on the skills necessary (suturing, tissue management, surgical principles) then move into surgical techniques associated with tissue grafting. Focusing on connective tissue grafting techniques and Allograft grafting materials.

Teaching method: Lecture, Hands-on

Course Objectives
Attendees will learn how to:

  • Prepare Biology, Diagnosis and Treatment planning of mucogingival defects
  • Describe principles used in root coverage and gingival augmentation procedures
  • Understand and apply recipient and donor site preparation and harvesting techniques
  • Distinguish between Autogenous vs Allograft in root coverage and augmentation procedure
  • Recognize and manage Soft Tissue complications
  • Perform hands-on free Gingival Graft and Root Coverage procedures

ABOUT: Dr. Dmitriy Ivanov

Dr. Dmitriy Ivanov headshotDr. Ivanov is a specialist in Periodontics with a focus on the treatment of periodontal disease, hard and soft tissue augmentation and dental implantology. He received an extensive training in in all aspects of Periodontics, providing patients with ability maintain a healthy and esthetic smile. He is also trained in moderate IV Sedation, helping the most anxious patients to receive excellent periodontal care. Dr. Ivanov received his Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from UC Santa Barbara, graduating with Summa Cum Laude (Highest Honors). He was awarded a D.D.S. degree from the UCLA School of Dentistry and continued his post-doctoral education in Advanced Periodontics and Implant Dentistry residency at the Veterans Hospital of West Los Angeles/UCLA Medical Center.

His residency had placed a great emphasis on medically compromised patients, full-mouth rehabilitation, interdisciplinary Perio-Prosthodontics reconstructive therapy and full-arch implant treatment. Dr. Ivanov is a former Clinical Instructor of Periodontics at UCLA School of Dentistry in Westwood and UCLA Venice Dental Clinic. Dr. Ivanov is a Los Angeles native and outside of his professional commitments, he enjoys life with his young family. His hobbies are fitness, cooking, music. He is fluent in English and Russian.
